Subversion is going against the expected codes and conventions, the unpredictable and unexpected. On occasion this is used in horror films to scare the viewer without a build up or to build up the tension to no event to unsettle the audience. However it can and is often used in either texts such as comedy TV programmes. An example of this is the prank show Off Their Rockers. In which the Elderly cast which we expect to be fragile, as they are regularly represented this way, are instead lively and outrageous which leads to humor.
