Intertextuality is the shaping of texts by the meaning of other texts. Remakes refer directly to other texts whereas parody makes fun of the text for comedy. Pastiche on the other hand references the text in a manner of inspiration and memory. In 1968 Barthes announced the death of the author, meaning everybody became a reader as all original concepts had been told. Recently intertextuality has been seen commonly in the form of fan service and spotting "Easter eggs" hidden meanings (Often intertextual) has become a kind of sport and competition online.
